Platte County R-3 School District
Comprehensive School Improvement Plan (CSIP)
In the spring semester of the 1996-1997 school year, the Platte County R-3 School District began the process of developing a long term plan designed to guide the district's activities for a five year period. This document was created by a small committee consisting of school board members, district administration and teachers, students, and community members. The published document was called "Vision 2002".
After the initiatives in Vision 2002 were graduated, the District began efforts to create a new document to guide the next five years. This document was appropriately titled "Vision 2007". While the committee was stronger in numbers and representation, the committee functioned in similar fashion. The creation of a strategic plan designed to address enrollment growth and academic achievement was produced to guide our future.
Another set of initiatives have been graduated in the Platte County R-3 School District, so efforts were once again focused on planning our future. In spring of 2006, a committee was assembled. This was the district's most elaborate CSIP committee in its history. The committee consisted of 82 school district stakeholders (teachers, support staff, administration, students, parents, business owners). This committee utilized internal and external factors to identify the district's critical student achievement issues. A sub-committee (CSIP Planning Team) consisting of administrator's accountable to carry out the plan organized the CSIP Committee's findings into goals, objectives, and actions.
The Platte County R-3 School District created a "vision" in 1997. Since the inception of our first strategic plan, Platte County students and employees have rolled up there "collective sleeves" and turned visions into realities. Our updated strategic plan entitled "Pirate Pathways" will focus our efforts on improving student achievement, closing the achievement gap, enhancing employee quality, and addressing growth. "Pirate Pathways" is our student-centered school improvement road map to the year 2012.
