Volunteer Information
Platte County R-3 School District
There are many opportunities to volunteer at Platte County R-3 School District. Whether it is during the school day helping in the office with clerical duties, mentoring a student with math facts, or participating in the many PTA sponsored activities and programs, Platte County R-3 encourages your involvement.
YouthFriends is a school based mentoring program for students. For more information on volunteering with YouthFriends, please contact Michele Thomason at 816-858-7001.
If you would like to utilize your talents by volunteering in one of our buildings, please contact that building principal to share your abilities and offer your services.
Each building has a very active, supportive parent group (PTA, Booster, etc.). For contact information on how to volunteer or join one of these groups, please go to Parent Organization link on the left of this page.
Community Connections
Do you have an interesting collection? Did you serve in the military? Do you love to fish or hunt? What is your “day” job? Are you an architect, CPA, waitress, farmer? Have you traveled to faraway lands? Do you have souvenirs, artifacts or history from this or a foreign country? These are all things that are taught and we need your help!
Platte County R-3 School District is looking for folks to enhance the curriculum through community connections in the classroom. We invite you to come into the classroom and share your experiences, your knowledge, and your hobbies. Classroom teachers need help in making the subject “real” to students. If you would be willing to come into a classroom or just share your stories with the teacher in an effort to bring the curriculum to life for our students, please email zubeckt@pcriii.k12.mo.us or call Tina Zubeck at 816-858-5420. Don’t be shy ....we want your help!
Our goal is to gather a list of community members with a wide variety of life experiences or hobbies that our classroom teachers can draw from for support. You might share your story, bring in artifacts and allow students to see hands-on. Teachers can plan their lessons and contact individuals that will enhance the subject. Spend as little or as much time as you might have to share.
