Communication

Communication between all parties involved is truly the key to success in education. With that in mind, the Platte County R-3 High School offers the following as some avenues of communication.
Open House - Each year within the first weeks of school, Platte County R-3 High School sponsors an open house providing a time for parents and students to visit with teachers and staff inside their classrooms.
Progress Reports - At the mid-point of each quarter, progress reports are sent home to let parents know how students are succeeding and to inform them of missing assignments, student strengths, and possible concerns.
Quarterly Grading Periods - Four times per year, students receive a grade for each course. The grade cards received for first and third quarters are informational only. The grade cards received at the end of second and fourth quarters also include semester grades. These semester grades will be recorded on a student's transcript and will be used to determine GPA.
Parent-Teacher Conferences - Following the end of the first quarter, two evenings will be set aside for parents to discuss their student's grades with teachers.
ParentConnect- Parents may register with the high school office (816-858-2822) and can access current information about their student's grades from their computer at home.
Telephone, Email, Private Conferences - Please feel free to contact any staff member to discuss student progress or to set up an appointment. Parents are encouraged to get to know the teachers and staff at Platte County R-3 High School. We will do everything we can to keep in touch with you. (See the Staff Directory tab for telephone extensions and email addresses.)
