Welcome! I began my career with Platte County R-3 in 1994. I have been a school counselor for thirteen years and was a reading teacher for eight years. I have a Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education and Middle School, with certification in Reading for K-12 from Missouri Western State University. I have a Masters Degree in School Counseling and Guidance from Northwest Missouri State University. As a volunteer, I have enjoyed being a part of the Pirates Rock Committee since 2003. I enjoy recognizing students who display our monthly character traits.
I teach guidance lessons about academic strategies, body image, bullying interventions, conflict resolution, death/grief, empathy, feelings, friendship skills, healthy choices, nutrition, peer pressure and safety with every fourth and fifth grade classroom at Paxton Elementary. I incorporate our monthly character traits into our guidance lessons. It is rewarding working with students individually and in small groups focusing on what students need to be successful.
Guidance Schedule varies each week. Please feel free to reach me by email if you have any questions or concerns.
