• Professional Development

    The Platte County R-3's professional development focus is on student learning. The following four questions guide teachers and administrators as they work towards continuous improvement.
    • What do I want students to learn?
    • How do I know if they are learning?
    • What am I doing if they are not learning?
    • What am I doing if they have already learned what we have taught?

    Buildings spend time during team meetings, content meetings, and PLC meetings analyzing data and determining instructional needs.  It is through teachers' collaborative efforts that we can assure success for all students.

    Professional Development Committee

    The Excellence in Education Act requires each school district to have a Professional Development Committee (PDC). PDC must work in collaboration with teachers and administrators for continuous school improvement. The primary function of the PDC can be summarized as follows:

    • Identify instructional concerns and remedies for beginning and experienced teachers;
    • Serve as a confidential consultant upon a teacher's request;
    • Assess faculty needs and develop in-service opportunities for certified school staff; and
    • Present to the proper authority, faculty suggestions, ideas, and recommendations pertaining to classroom instruction within the school district.
