    Wellness Goal
    Platte County School District's wellness goal is to promote health and lifelong learning, raise awareness, and create opportunities for employees to continue improving their health, reduce stress, create healthy lifestyles and habits, and set examples for others.
     
     YMCA membership information:
    • The YMCA offers several different types of memberships.
    • No joining fee (value of $56.50/individual and $89.50/family) if you stay with the Y for 12 months.

    4/30 Challenge

    • The 4/30 Challenge starts November 1 and ends April 30.
    • To participate print the 4/30 Challenge document. Write your name and month at the top of the document. Write in your goals in the appropriate category (nutrition, fitness, self-care, family) and the number of days you want to achieve your goals in the circle. Maximum number of goals each month is 4. At the bottom of the page, write in what your reward will be to yourself once you achieve your goals. At the beginning of each month, send a picture or scan your document/goals to your building Wellness Ambassador. Rewarding yourself is key to achieving your goals. 
    • After you complete each month submit your 4/30 Challenge form to your building Wellness Ambassador. Your Wellness Ambassador will send you the link to submit your name to the monthly building drawing for a $25 voucher to The Running Well Store https://therunningwellstore.com or Pirate Store (http://www.pchsboosterclub.com/store/c2/Pirate_Wear.html). The deadline to submit your name to the drawing is the 5th of the following month.  (Effective in 2018-19, we no longer offer gift cards to winners of the 4/30 Challenge.)
    • At the beginning of February, if you have met any goals during the months of November, December or January we will draw a winner of a $100 voucher to The Running Well Store or Pirate Store.
    • At the beginning of May, if you have met any goals during the months of February, March or April we will draw a winner of a $100 voucher to The Running Well Store or Pirate Store.
    • In May, we will also draw a District wide winner who will receive a $100 voucher to The Running Well Store or Pirate Store. 
    • Below are some ideas for goals in each category. The number of days you want to achieve your goal is listed for reference just so you can see that the goal days should be attainable and relevant to the goal. Some are reasonable at 3 days while others should be set high (30 days). Please challenge yourself with your goals. Here is the link to the Wholefully website we borrowed the idea from so you can see other goals. 

     

    Nutrition

      • eat breakfast - 30 out of 30 days
      • eat clean - 25 out of 30 days
      • 64 oz of water daily - 30/30 days
      • eat something green at every meal - 20 out of 30 days
      • no refined sugar ...or....no dessert - 30 out of 30 days
      • no eating after 7 pm - 30 out of 30 days
      • keep a food log - 25 out of 30 days

    Fitness

      • come to a free exercise class twice a week 
      • 30 minutes of exercise daily - 25 out of 30 days 
      • train for a 5 K - 28 out of 30 days
      • increase reps (or weight) in weight training - 15 out of 30 days
      • walk the dog daily - 30 of 30 days
      • go to the fitness center (Y, Gold's, etc) 3 days a week
      • 10,000 steps daily - 25 out of 30 days

    Self Care

      • no alcohol  - 30 out of 30
      • read a book related to self care/self help (The Compound Effect, 7 Habits of Highly Effective People, etc.)....- read either a specific number of days out of 30, or just complete the book in the 30 days.
      • go to bed by 10 pm - 20 out of 30 days
      • get a massage - 1 out of 30 days 
      • read for enjoyment daily - 30 out of 30 days
      • meditate/yoga - 20 out of 30 days
      • volunteer work - 1 out of 30 days
      • lose ten pounds by the end of the 30 days

    Family

      • date night with no children - 2 out of 30 days
      • follow the Dave Ramsey program - 30 out of 30 days
      • cook dinner for parents - 1 night a week (figured total out of 30)
      • family game night - 5 out of 30 days
      • no technology (phones, TV, computers) between 6:30 and 8:00pm - 25 out of 30 days
      • write letters, emails, Skype family members not in the area - 8 out of 30 days
      • daily devotional with spouse - 30 out of 30 days

    Staying active and working out is important to living a healthy lifestyle. The Platte County R-3 School District cares about its employees' health and wellness and wants to give you every opportunity to work out.
