Proposed Projects

New Middle School #2

New Middle School #2 Site PlanBuilt to support the District’s Principles of Learning, the new middle school project will be designed for 500- 600 students with the possibility to expand in future phases. The planned 93,000 square-foot facility will feature classrooms supported with adjacent collaboration opportunities and space for hands-on and exploratory learning. Other amenities will include a safe and secure entry and administration area, a state-of-the art media center, and full-sized gymnasium, kitchen, and commons. Students will have access to outdoor learning opportunities as well as an adjacent middle school track and field. The building site is part of a larger tract of land gifted to the District that will be master-planned to house the PCR-3’s second high school in future years.

New Middle School floor plan draftThe new middle school is currently at a schematic level of development. This phase focuses on confirming a concept that determines how the overall square footage of the building is allocated into specific areas to support learning. As we move into the next phase of development, this basic floor plan and exterior concept will be further evolved to support the needs of the Barry Middle School community. These refinements will include some plan and exterior concept adjustments, decisions on building materials and what supportive amenities each learning space will include. The site plan has been updated to reflect the current design in progress.

Platte County High School Rebuild, Phase 1

PCHS Classroom Wing renderingThe total rebuild of Platte County High School (PCHS) will be funded by three separate bond issues and will be completed in three phases. The first phase, to be part of the 2021 Bond Program, will include a two-story addition on the southwest side of PCHS where the current baseball field is located. This phase will include 26 classrooms, including science labs and  STEM/computer labs; a new main gymnasium complex, weight room and health classroom; cafeteria commons; and kitchen/serving area. Phase I will also include a new baseball field, some stadium upgrades, and improved parking and traffic patterns.

View of Phase 1 PCHS rebuild from stadiumThe complete PCHS rebuild is proposed to have approximately 280,000 square feet of new construction, with Wilson Auditorium being the only part of the existing building to remain once all phases are complete.  Click here to view a site plan of the complete rebuild. The full PCHS master plan includes new-age learning classroom wings; updated fine arts, athletics, and multi-purpose educational spaces; a single cafeteria/serving area; and a two-story learning commons. The rebuild will be designed to house approximately 1,600 students and will also embody the District’s Principles of Learning. The fully completed project will solve problematic wayfinding, separation of traffic patterns, and lengthy student travel distances as well as commuting between buildings. It will also allow for an entire overhaul of the HVAC and other aging infrastructure.

Pathfinder Elementary and Barry School Improvements

Barry Pathfinder Improvements site planWith the addition of the new middle school #2, classroom and building renovations and enhancements needed to convert Barry School and Pathfinder Elementary to serve Kindergarten through 5th-grade students would also be planned. This change would mean that all PCR-3 elementary schools would be K-5, simplifying the move from elementary to middle school for all students.
