Mrs. Holly Pippin
Holly Pippin is in her second year as a Platte County Pirate, having also taught in Colorado for 13 years. Her teaching experience is in elementary music and treble voice choirs. She is excited to bring her expertise and passion for music to the students and community of Platte County School District! Mrs. Pippin's music education background is in American and world folk music and dance, as well as instrumental music, and she strives to incorporate an appreciation for all types of music into a variety of classroom experiences. Students sing, play, dance, listen, compose, and study a wide variety of music styles and genres throughout their elementary years. Compass offers an extra-curricular before-school choir for 4th and 5th graders, where singers gain better knowledge and training in vocal music and have the opportunity to perform for school events and in the Platte City community. Mrs. Pippin initiated new choir programs at two elementary schools, took over an existing choir program at a third school, and was selected to bring choirs to the Colorado Music Educators Association Clinic and Conference in 2012 and 2015.
Mrs. Pippin is primarily trained as a singer, but also has a background in flute and piccolo from many years playing in concert and marching bands. She is also learning bass guitar and ukulele! In her free time, she enjoys running/racing, singing, dancing, outdoor adventures, and watching football. She lives with her husband, Robert, who is a music professor at Northwest Missouri State University, and their dog, Georgia.
