Great Beginnings at Barry School
Let me take a moment to introduce myself. My name is Kristy Unruh, and I am excited to be joining the Platte County R-III School District. I hold dual certification in Elementary Education as well as Early Childhood Special Education and I am currently pursuing a master’s degree of Applied Science in Assessment with an emphasis in Autism Spectrum Disorders and intend to graduate this December. I have over 20 years of experience in working with children in general education and with special needs.
I have been married to my husband, Greg for 11 years, and we have three children ages 22, 8 and 6. My oldest son Gabriel, a 2014 graduate of PCR-III, attended college and now lives and works on the East Coast. This school year my daughter Amelia starts third grade and my youngest son Barrett will be in the first grade at Pathfinder Elementary. Since moving into the district in 2006, I have been blessed with the opportunity to volunteer and get to know a diverse population of children and families with the activities and clubs with which I have been involved. Because of these positive experiences, my family and I made the long-term decision to remain in the district and become a more integral part.
I believe one of the most important things we can do for your child is to maintain good communication between home and school. Please know that I am always willing to listen to any questions or concerns you may have regarding your child’s success within my classroom.
