1st Grade Teacher
Hello! I am so excited to be your child's first-grade teacher this year! First grade is such an exciting year- your child will be learning how to read, write, add, subtract, tell time, count money, and so much more!
I firmly believe that children learn by doing, so all of our learning will start with hands-on activities. Each step toward mastery will be structured with support until your child is able to demonstrate proficiency on paper. This age is also an excellent time to train children in life skills, so you and I will be working together to develop responsibility, self-control, respect, and organization in your child. All of these goals are very achievable, especially if we work together!
I received my bachelor's degree at The University of Texas at Austin in early childhood and elementary education, and my master's degree in curriculum & instruction with an emphasis in reading at Tarleton State University. Teaching is my passion, and I have been working in education for almost 20 years. This is my 9th year in first grade, and it truly has my heart!
My family and I in Leavenworth- my husband, David, who is retired from the Army (but is now teaching officers on Fort Leavenworth), our five kids, four golden retrievers, and one bossy cat. :)
