Ms. Stephanie Riechers

Welcome to 5th Grade!!!  I'm very excited to start our school year!  This is my 24th year teaching and my 17th year in 5th grade.  I am the reading and writing teacher. I am very excited to get to know your child.

My philosopy is "No one is born a great reader, becoming a great reader takes practice!"

My class is set up using the workshop model.  Students will be immersed in books and will have lots of opportunities to read and write and share.  We will be reading independently, with small groups and with the whole group on extra special books.

Please see my Parent Orientation video to learn more about our classroom.

  • I am so honored to be allowed the opportunity to teach your child this year!

I have been teaching since 1996!   My own educational career began at Benedictine College, where I received my BA in Elementary and Special Education.  I went on to Baker University for my Master's in Education in 2003.  In 2013, I achieved the highly coveted National Board Certification. I earned my Reading Specialist degree through Park University in 2015. Platte County R-3 School District has been my home since 2003.

I have taught 5th grade since being with Platte County. Siegrist departmentalizes which means our students will rotate between four different teachers.  My emphasis is in the area of Communication Arts.  I love what I do, and I am very passionate about reading.  I make it a top priority to find books your child will love to read! I teach my homeroom, Mr. Bogart's class, Mrs. Scanlon's class, and Mr. Short's class.

I have two children.  My son, Dalton, will be a freshman at Benedictine College this fall. He is majoring in business and will be playing baseball as a Raven.  My daughter, Demi, will be a freshman as well.  She will be at the Platte County High School.  I look forward to a great year.  I cannot thank you enough for trusting, supporting, and sharing your child with me.
