Merri Beth Means Dr. Merri Beth Means
    Welcome to Barry School!

We are a fifth through eighth grade building in the Platte County R3 School District. Our staff takes great pride in creating lasting relationships with our students and parents. We want all members of the community to feel welcomed and valued when they enter our building. As the principal, I encourage all parents to be involved in their child's education. We offer many opportunities for involvement through PTSA and Pirate Pals.

I am beginning my 22nd year in education. I have a BS in Elementary Education from Missouri Western State University, a MA in Teaching from Webster University, an EDS in Superintendency and Administration from William Woods University and recently completed my Doctorate in Educational Leadership from William Woods University. I have taught 6th grade, 4th grade, and 2nd grade and was an Assistant Principal at Siegrist Elementary before becoming Principal here at Barry School.

Working with children and watching them grow academically, socially, and emotionally is my passion. Thank you for giving me the opportunity to work with your children. If you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to contact me by phone or email.

Working with kids has always been a passion for me.  Making a difference in a student's life is my main purpose, and assisting students in having great educational experiences is my main goal.

I started my career as an administrator in California, Missouri. I was an Assistant Principal at the elementary as well as the middle school there for two years. Before starting my career as an administrator, I taught art for seven years (one year in elementary and six years in a middle school) and coached various sports at all levels.

I am originally from Independence, Missouri, and received my Bachelor of Science degree in Education from the University of Central Missouri in 1999 and a Masters of Science in Educational Administration from Park University in 2003. I earned my Doctorate in Educational Leadership at Saint Louis University.  I am married to Tamara, a dietician, and we have one child, a girl named Elise Evelyn. I am very excited to be a part of Barry School and to be a Pirate.....Arrrrrrrrrrrrgh!
