Hall of Fame/Winter Athletic Signings

PCR-3 Celebrates Student-Athlete Signings and Welcomes New Pirate Hall of Fame Inductees

The Platte County School District proudly celebrated both the future and the legacy of several Pirates during a special evening recognizing winter athletic signings and inducting four outstanding individuals into the Pirate Hall of Fame on January 28.

  • Marlee Snyder-Richardson: Softball, St. Louis Community College
  • Danica Salisbury: Softball, St. Louis Community College
  • Rylee Carr: Basketball, Johnson County Community College
  • Gia DeRose: Volleyball, Graceland University
  • Cameron Buckwalter: Baseball, Blackburn College

The evening also marked the induction of four new members into the Platte County Pirate Hall of Fame, an honor established in 1999 to recognize individuals who have made a lasting impact on the district and community.

2025-26 Pirate Hall of Fame Inductees include:

  • William A. Brown: A 1959 Platte County graduate whose lifelong service spans student leadership, teaching, coaching, school board service, and decades of civic and community leadership. 
  • Officer Darrick Bruns: The District’s first full-time School Resource Officer, whose 24 years of service in Platte County and groundbreaking work in law enforcement and crime scene investigation education have influenced thousands of students statewide and beyond.
  • Disa Rice: A beloved elementary educator known for innovative, creative, and engaging instruction that made learning meaningful for generations of students. Her impact continues through community involvement, mentorship, and service well beyond her retirement.
  • Cacy Williams: One of the most accomplished athletes in district history, with success as a multi-sport Pirate (state appearances in softball - three trips, including the first PCHS state championship; basketball - first PCHS state championship; and soccer - state tournament), collegiate standout, coach, and national analyst.

Together, the student-athlete signings and Hall of Fame inductions highlighted the strength of the Pirate tradition, where extraordinary educators, dedicated students, and committed community members work together to ensure learners thrive and are prepared to pursue their unique futures.
