
Platte County School District robotics teams from PCHS, Barry, and PCMS brought home two state championship trophies along with multiple design and excellence awards from the Vex Robotics Missouri State Championships in Jefferson City on March 11. Congratulations to high school state champions: PCHS's Team 9605S (Calvin Thrasher, Caden Hitchcock, Jack Bralley, Maggie Assel, Jason Papacek, and Cole Johnson), and middle school state champions: Barry's Team 78877A (Mitchel McBratney, Chase French, Gavin Foster, Caydin Phillips, Brandon Stearns, and Ephraim Jatau). Team 9605S won four straight matches to take the title and also took home the Build Award for the most well-crafted robot. Team 78877A came back to win the championship after a tough start in qualifications, and also won the Innovate Award for the most innovative and effective robot design, and also won the Skills Championship.
These two teams, along with PCHS's Team 9065H (Quinn Duggan, Collin Wilson, Gage Hamon, Donavin Ness, Shan Senoga, and Brooklynn Mahowski), and PCMS's Teams 8778Z (Luke Perkins, Asher Hitzelberger, Carly Kisker, Kaysie Scott, JT Diercks, and Vincent Gardner), and 8778Y (Sedonia Duane, Noah Bustamante, Parker Messenger, Sophia Fuehrer, Kimber Brown, Grace Gaspers and Zach Snodgrass), have qualified for the Vex Robotics World Championships in Dallas in late April.
