Platte County School District Students Lead “Won’t You Be My Neighbor” Project to Support Local Families
Platte County School District proudly celebrates the success of its “Won’t You Be My Neighbor” project, which concluded on Friday, March 20. Through a collaborative effort across multiple student leadership teams, the initiative collected 95 meal-in-a-bag kits and 142 birthday cake kits to support the Platte County Health Department's Mobile Food Pantry.
The project was led by the Barry Elementary's Student Leader Team and Siegrist Elementary's Career & Community Student Leader Team, with guidance from staff sponsors, Lori Mann, Justina Holt, and Karen Moreno, who also recruited Platte County School District's Transportation and District office staff to participate. Together, students organized, collected, and assembled donations to help meet the needs of local families.
This effort was made possible through the generosity of PCR-3 families and local businesses, who contributed non-perishable food items, financial donations, and supplies. Their support reflects the strength of the District’s partnership with the community and a shared commitment to helping neighbors in need.
The Platte County Health Department expressed its appreciation, sharing that the volume and quality of donations will make a meaningful difference for families served by the mobile food pantry. "Your generosity will make an impact on families in need. Thank you for partnering with us and being a good neighbor! PCR-3 is making a great impact in the Platte County Community!" Tricia Rothweiler, Health Education Supervisor for Platte County Health Department, shared.
