PCHS FBLA Wins Big at Virtual State Leadership Conference

Forty-four members of the Missouri Future Business Leaders of America – Phi Beta Lambda Chapter from Platte County High School recently participated in the 2020 Missouri FBLA-PBL Virtual State Leadership Conference. This virtual experience provided members from across Missouri with 200+ hours of educational and leadership content, live forums with industry leaders, and interactive educational activities in an online platform. Stephen Mackey, a character development coach and motivational speaker, sharing a message to equip people to take responsibility and change their lives, keynoted the conference.


More than 3,500 students and advisers came together for the event, with 150+ business education-related contests running during the event; contest topics range from accounting to website design, marketing to mobile application development. 2020 marked the first year the conference was not held in person.


Overall, Platte County High School brought home many awards, including State Champion in three events:

  • “Gold” Chapter of the Year
  • 1st Place - Business Financial Plan: Karoline Kilkenny, Caleb Robles, Kinadee Shoemaker
  • 1st Place - Local Chapter Report: Macie Moore, Mya Sheehan, Victoria Williams
  • 1st Place - Public Service Announcement: Chamberlain Brownsberger, Will Moorhead, Jaeger Rawlings
  • 2nd Place - American Enterprise Project: Kalina Arnold, Amaira Peterson
  • 2nd Place - Business Plan: Ryan Dye, Aidan McQueen, Austin Vanek
  • 2nd Place - Graphic Design: Annie Archibald, Elizabeth Pokaluk, Victoria Sanders
  • 2nd Place - Partnership with a Business Project: Ryan Dye, Cody Green, Grace Thomas
  • 3rd Place - Community Service Project: Holly Jacobson, Britney Nguyen, Emilia Wisniewski
  • 5th Place - 3D Animation: Mya Sheehan, Keaton Smith, Victoria Williams
  • 5th Place - eBusiness: Holly Jacobson, Donald MacCuish, Hannah Walker
  • 5th Place - Management Information Systems: Will Moorhead, David Pecha, Jack Scattini
  • 6th Place - Advertising: Ian Bowman
  • 6th Place - Coding & Programming: Eli Nelson
  • 7th Place - Network Design: Ian Bowman, Adam Burr, Blake Lewis
  • 8th Place - Electronic Career Portfolio: Karoline Kilkenny
  • 8th Place - Introduction to Information Technology: Jack Scattini


A total of 22 Platte County FBLA members are national qualifiers (top four in each event) and will compete at the 2020 National FBLA Virtual Leadership Conference hosted by Salt Lake City, Utah, June 28 - July 3.
