Two PCHS Musicians Selected for National Concert Band

Two PCHS Musicians Selected for National Concert Band

Congratulations to PCHS Seniors, Brendan Sullivan and Austin Allen, who have been selected to the National Association for Music Education’s National Concert Band. Sullivan, on the trombone, and Allen, on the baritone saxophone, are among 121 students from the across the United States selected to perform in this All-National Honor Ensemble.

Each year the National Association for Music Education (NAfME) sponsors a concert band, jazz band, orchestra and choir which rehearses in conjunction with the NAfME national convention. They will travel to Orlando, Florida, in November and perform on November 28.

To be selected to a NAfME national ensemble, students must first earn membership in their respective All-State ensemble. Students can then audition by submitting a recorded audition of pre-selected material. Each year hundreds of students submit auditions and only four students from the state of Missouri were selected this year, with two of those students coming from PCHS.

“Austin and Brendan’s selection is a testament to their talent and hard work. We are proud to have two of our students recognized on the national level for their commitment to their continued musical growth,” PCHS Band Director Dr. Jay Jones shared.
