Substitute Opportunities

Platte County R-3 School District is currently accepting Substitute applications for Teachers (Certified), Nursing, and Non-teaching (Classified) positions. 

Process for Becoming a PCR-3 Substitute Teacher

 

Step 1: Apply to be a Substitute

Visit the Career Site and submit a completed application. 

Step 2: Background Check

You must have a current background clearance using the Platte County 4-digit number (see below) and is no older than 365 days. Go to www.machs.mo.gov to complete the online piece of your background check (Click here to Register with the Fingerprint Portal > Click here to Register with MACHS > see below for the correct code). Once you have your background confirmation number (TCN) you will enter your zip code to make an appointment to have your picture and fingerprints taken. 

  • Substitute Teacher applicants who need a Substitute Certification - 1629
  • Substitute Teacher applicants who already have a Missouri Teaching Certification - 1628
  • Substitute Custodian, Nurse, Admin. Assistant, Deaf Interpreter - 1630

Email Bobbi Wheeler, [email protected], to ask for a no charge code for your background check and let Mrs. Wheeler know the date of your fingerprint appointment. 

Step 3: Obtain Substitute Teacher Certification

If you don't already have a Missouri teaching certification please apply for a substitute certificate through DESE (Department of Elementary and Secondary Education). DESE charges a fee for a four-year substitute certificate.

Step 4: Schedule onboarding

Once you have obtained your substitute teacher certification from DESE, contact Bobbi Wheeler, (816) 858-5420 x 2120 or [email protected] to schedule onboarding.  

 

Substitute Pay Information

Substitutes are hourly employees and will clock their time. Substitutes are paid on the 10th and 25th of each month. If the 10th or the 25th falls on a holiday or weekend, payday is the last business day prior to the 10th or 25th.
