Great Beginnings Preschool Enrollment Interest Form - Complete by January 30

Our Great Beginnings Preschool program is now gathering interest for families with incoming 4-year-olds for the 2026-27 school year. Following a successful year of expanded PreK offerings, this full- and half-day program provides meaningful early learning experiences in a supportive environment. Unlike last year, enrollment will not be first-come, first-served; all interested families are encouraged to complete the enrollment interest form by January 30 to be considered.

NCC Culinary Students Serve 600+ Free Meals

Chef Brandi Moritz’s 36 Culinary Arts students partnered with Kids Feeding Kids to prepare and distribute more than 600 free, family-sized meals of Chicken and Vegetable Fried Rice on December 17.

2025 Teacher and Service Person of the Year

With a surprise addition to an all-school assembly and a special interruption of a staff meeting, Platte County School District announced its Teacher and Service Person of the Year in May. This year's Teacher of the Year is Cherie Thatcher, Special Education Teacher at Barry Elementary; and Service Person of the Year is Jon Brady, Permanent Substitute at Northland Career Center.

PCHS Featured on the Today Show's "Friday Morning Lights"

The Today Show featured Platte County High School on November 8 for their final "Friday Morning Lights" segment of the season. PCHS's head football coach Bill Utz was interviewed by NBC's local affiliate (KSHB's Taylor Hemness), and PCHS's football team, band, cheerleaders, color guard, and dance team, along with a crowd of Pirate fans showed up bright and early to be featured.

Northland Career Center Receives $30M State-Appropriated Matching Grant for New Facility

Over the course of the past four years, Northland Career Center (NCC) in partnership with PCR-3, has been developing a vision and plan to create a new, state-of-the-art, career center at a centralized location for its Northland consortium. Leaders have engaged various strategic partners to develop and market a future building concept. This concept became a more concrete idea in April 2021, after a presentation to the Missouri House Subcommittee on Federal Stimulus Funds. In May of 2022, the Missouri State Legislature invested in this workforce initiative by appropriating $30M of its FY 2023 budget to support NCC’s cause to build and grow a Northland workforce in Clay and Platte Counties.
