Summer School 2025 LogoThe Platte County R-3 School District is excited to announce that Summer School will be held June 2-30, 2025. All Platte County R-3 students are invited to attend and continue to grow as learners throughout the summer!

When is Summer School 2025?

Summer School will be held 8:00am-12:00pm on weekdays, June 2-30, 2025. There will be no summer school on June 19. 

Where are the Summer School sites?

  • Barry Elementary Location: Pathfinder Elementary and Barry Elementary Kindergarten – 5th grade students will attend summer school at Barry Elementary
  • Compass Elementary Location: Compass Elementary and Siegrist Elementary Kindergarten – 5th grade students will attend summer school at Compass Elementary
  • Platte City Middle School Location:
    • Platte City Middle School and Platte Purchase Middle School 6th grade – 8th grade students will attend summer school at Platte City Middle School
      Platte County High School
       9th grade – 12th grade students will attend summer school at Platte City Middle School

Is there a cost for attending summer school?

No, there is no cost to attend summer school.

How do I enroll my child for Summer School?

  • For current Kindergarten to 7th Grade students (next year's 1st through 8th grade students), enrollment will be via an e-Collect form via Parent Portal.
  • Incoming Kindergarten students will be able to complete summer school registration after completing their regular school year enrollment. Information will also be shared during Kindergarten Kickoffs on April 15.
  • High school students enrolling in summer school should complete PCHS's enrollment forms via Parent Portal, which will be available April 14.

Please note: Your child's grade for summer school is the grade they will be entering into for the 2025-26 school year (i.e. 3rd grader in 2024-25 school year will be enrolled as a 4th grader for summer school).

Can incoming Kindergarten students participate in Summer School?

Yes! Even our youngest learners can participate! Students who will start kindergarten in August 2025 are encouraged to get a jumpstart on being classroom ready. Summer School will help our incoming kindergartners increase confidence, build relationships, understand expectations, and become familiar with the classroom environment, all while having fun! Please note: Incoming Kindergarten students must first complete new student enrollment before enrolling in Summer School.

What does Summer School look like?

All Platte County R-3 students are invited to attend and continue to grow as learners throughout the summer! The purpose of PCR-3’s Summer School Program is to provide an experience that is relevant, rigorous, and engaging, based on individual learner needs, in a safe and caring environment. 

Expanded community partnerships provide students with real-world learning experiences to reinforce classroom learning.

Elementary Themes

Incoming Kindergartners through incoming 5th graders…Get ready for a summer full of excitement, creativity, and discovery! Our Elementary Summer School experiences are designed around  fun-filled themes like Sweet Treats, Vibrant Colors, Ocean Adventures, and Outer Space Explorations! Middle School Experiences

Middle School students will partner with the Missouri Department of Conservation to explore real world ecological issues on our campus, as well as participate in a Make48 Innovation experience.

  • Missouri Department of Conservation: Students will be examining issues related to water and its impact on our land. Teachers will guide students through a project-based experience with the Missouri Department of Conservation, called "Unhooked."
  • Make48 Innovation Experience: Students will work in teams for this innovation challenge, and will engage with a real-world client to work through a design problem and ultimately create a solution including a small-scale prototype, a one-minute marketing or informational video, and an informational sales sheet.

Transportation, Meals, and Before & After School Care

Is transportation provided?

  • Yes, transportation is provided on an abbreviated bus stop plan. See routes and schedules linked below. Please review the schedules before enrolling.

Are meals provided during summer school?

  • The District will provide a cold breakfast and healthy snack option for students each day.

Is Y Club available during summer school?

  • Yes, Y Club is available for students attending summer school in grades Kindergarten - 5th grade while summer school is in session. Y Club will be held at Compass Elementary and Barry Elementary. Students are not automatically enrolled in Y Club by selecting Y Club on your summer school enrollment. Registration for summer Y Club programs (day camps and before and after summer school care) will be available starting at 6am on February 25, 2025 and can be completed here: https://kansascityymca.org/programs/summer-camps. Please note, Y Club will not be available on June 19.
